UM SOM: National Study Center for Trauma (NSC)
Education & Training
The National Study Center faculty and research staff support the teaching mission of the School of Medicine through lectures in academic disciplines, including epidemiology, anesthesiology and physiology. In addition, the faculty mentor graduate and medical students. The students actively participate in NSC research projects through data collection and analysis to enhance their academic experience.
An injury-prevention grant funded through the Fogarty International Center provides training for health professionals from Egypt and other countries. The R Adams Cowley Fellowship offers an opportunity for a post-doctoral scholar to work with senior faculty in developing innovative research in the area of injury epidemiology. Other post-doctoral fellows engage in clinical research in mild brain injury and crash-injury studies.
Community outreach and dissemination of study results through presentations and publications continue to be a focus for NSC investigators and research staff.
